What is Dialysis and what does it involve ?

Dialysis is a medical procedure used to remove waste and excess fluids from the blood when the kidneys are no longer able to perform this function effectively. During dialysis, blood is removed from the patient’s body and filtered through a machine that removes waste and excess fluids. The filtered blood is then returned to the patient’s body. There are two main types of dialysis: hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
